Friends of the Cancer Resource Centre
Friends of the Cancer Resource Centre is a volunteer auxiliary of the Cancer Resource Centre designed to enhance and promote the good works of the Centre. The auxiliary was formed in early June, 2006 and is 50+ members strong! Join us to help support the Centre's mission of providing free educational and support services to those affected with cancer. We, as Friends of the Cancer Resource Centre, are the voices, the advocates for this viable community entity.
Meetings are held bi-monthly and include a spring luncheon held in May. We welcome whatever services you are able to provide. It's easy to become a “Friend.” Download a membership form here or call 219-836-3349 for more information.
"Wish Upon a Star" was designed by the Friend's tree committee: Ellen Byrne, Linda Favors, Mary Jo Holly, Dolly Markovich, Mary Lou Mybeck, Paula Nellans, and Barb Preslin. The tree was on display during the Festival of Trees event at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts in Munster.

Photographer Pete Doherty has developed a passion for “midwest moments,” often spending scorching summer afternoons or blustery winter mornings to capture delightful photographs of our beloved Chicago skyline and Indiana Dunes scenes. Pete offered 12 of his choice photographs for use on the note cards and along with the generosity of Tom Largus, owner of Largus Printing, the cards became a reality.
These all-occasion cards, each with an uplifting or positive title printed on the back, represent a glimpse of the Midwest at its finest. Each packet includes eight note cards - four separate scenes, two cards of each scene. There are seven different packet styles to choose from. Each packet is $10 + tax, with the proceeds benefiting the Cancer Resource Centre. Cards are available for purchase at the following locations:
